The forty-ninth annual session of the National Women's Auxiliary was held in the International Ballroom of the Doubletree Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Second Vice President Ladonna Roshto (Mississippi) led a morning workshop entitled, "When Your Plate is Full and Your Tank is Empty." The program encouraged listeners to prevent and treat burnout through several practical and spiritual steps. Thelnita Fincher (Louisiana) continued the workshop with a presentation entitled, "Leaving a Godly Legacy." The audience was advised to set examples through godly relationships with family and God. Amy Armstrong (Alabama) led the congregation in a prayer.
The afternoon session opened as Ladonna Roshto led the congregation in singing a medley of "How Great is Our God" and "How Great Thou Art" as Nancy Roshto (Alabama) accompanied on the piano. Paulette Morrow (Oklahoma) led in an opening prayer. Dianne Johnson, President of Oklahoma State Women's Auxiliary, welcomed attendees to the meeting. Nannie Norris (Arkansas) gave a response to the welcome.
First Vice President Jennifer Petterec (Maryland) introduced President Dorine Winger (Maryland) who gave the President's Address entitled, "Ye Shall Be Witnesses Unto Me." Judy Bear (Georgia) led in prayer before the congregation sang another medley of "Praise Him, Praise Him" and "I Sing Praises to Your Name." A motion was made to include the President's Address in the yearbook. The motion was seconded and passed.
Publicity Director Mary Candler (Oklahoma) introduced Missionary Pastor Howard Vogan who gave information about the 2007 Mission Goal, Calvary Missionary Baptist Mission in Sumner, Georgia. The mission is sponsored by Central Baptist Church in Jackson, Georgia. Pastor Vogan narrated a slide presentation of the work in Sumner. Sponsoring church Pastor Kent Martin (Georgia) thanked those present for prayers and contributions.
President Dorine Winger called the 49th annual business session to order. Memorial Committee Chairperson Mary Johnson (Oklahoma) presented a report of the Memorial Committee. The names of ladies who were active in church auxiliaries and have died since last year were presented as Jennifer Petterec sang "This One's With Me."
Rhonda Olson (California) presented the Bible and Tract Distributor report. She encouraged ladies to submit names of missionaries in need of Bibles or tracts. A motion was made to adopt the report. The motion was seconded and approved.
Lois Crittenden (Florida) gave the Historian's report. She reminded ladies that the 50th anniversary celebration of the National Women's Auxiliary will be held in Spokane, Washington next year. A motion was made to adopt her report. The motion received a second and passed.
Billie Richardson (California) presented the Treasurer and the Enrollment and Finance Committee report. She stated that 367 ladies (257 messengers and 110 visitors) were present in the meeting representing 25 states and 4 foreign countries. Mrs. Richardson reminded ladies that offerings are needed for expense of meeting. A motion was made and seconded to adopt this report. The motion passed.
President Winger recognized several ladies including first time attendees; presidents of local, regional, or state auxiliaries; missionaries' wives; past National Women's Auxiliary presidents; past officers; and women who were present at the first meeting of the NWA.
Betty Keeling (California) proposed changes to Article XI in the NWA Statement of Principles. A committee consisting of Mrs. Keeling, Lois Crittenden, and Carol Myers (Maryland) wrote the proposal to clarify the selection process of an annual NWA mission goal. A motion was made to accept the changes to Article XI. The motion received a second and passed.
Mary Candler relayed information concerning the new NWA web site. She reported that the site had almost 4,000 visits since the site was activated. A motion was made and seconded to continue to have a web site for the National Women's Auxiliary and to incur the expenses necessary. The motion carried.
Nominations were presented for the 2008 NWA Mission Goal. Sponsoring churches with qualifying nominations for their mission were: First Landmark Missionary Baptist in Visalia, California; Sublett Road Baptist of Arlington, Texas; Ten Mile Baptist Church of Lonsdale, Arkansas; and Westwood Missionary Baptist of Winter Haven, Florida. The work of Missionary Danny Jones at Khon Kaen Baptist Church in Khon Kaen, Thailand was selected as the 2008 NWA Mission Goal. This work is sponsored by Westwood Missionary Baptist Church. Barbara Sibley (Kentucky) led a prayer for missionaries and their work.
Lois Crittenden made a motion to always include the President's Address in the NWA report. Motion received a second and passed.
Officers were elected for 2007-2008. President Winger appointed the 2008 Memorials Committee. Second Vice President Keeling appointed the 2008 Program Committee. Janice Williams (Texas) led a prayer to dismiss the session.
